Bucket List Item and DIY: Nose Painting

Sabrina and I have completed another bucket list item and thought that you all might be interested in doing this as well!

The Art of Painting...with Your Nose!

A couple of years ago Sabrina and I saw this video of a lady kissing a canvas to create this awesome portrait! The picture is absolutely amazing and it is such a neat concept! We have included the link to Natalie Irish's video below--check it out!

Anyway, we decided we wanted to try out a body part painting ourselves, and we decided to use our noses! We will give you a step by step below so you can try it out yourselves!

Step 1: Pick Out a picture or person to paint.

We are not the best artists in the world so we decided to do a landscape. This is the image we picked from Google:
We are pretty sure that ours is an exact replica ;) Just keep in mind that as you poke your nose on the canvas it can be difficult to see in a straight line.

Step 2: Gather your supplies.

We used paper plates as our palates and had a couple of small paintbrushes to mix paint with. We used a variety of acrylic paints in order to create our masterpiece. Because the paint is sitting on our delicate skin we made sure to continually clean off our noses throughout the process. We would suggest using finger paints or a water-based paint just to keep your skin clear! And of course you need a canvas! We got ours in a 2 pack on sale from Jo-Ann's but you can also purchase them from Michael's, Walmart, or any store that sells crafting supplies.

Step 3: Start painting!

Our technique was to gently peck our noses at the canvas. Sabrina has a more hard nose peck with more space between. I went for a softer more smudgy peck. The peck you chose is up to you!

We started with various shades of green to create our mountain range.
We then started with sky. We put little purple patches on first and layered blue over it to give it that multi-shade effect.

Then, we began to add the purple flowers using little nose pecks to create the lupines (I think that is what they are called!). I have to say, some of our flowers are struggling.

Then we flipped the canvas upside down, first filling in some of the white on our mountain with contrasting shades of green, then creating fluffy little white clouds!
Second to last we filled in the stems and grass at the bottom with a pale shade of green.
Here is our almost finished piece!
Lastly, don't forget to sign your work! We decided that the only appropriate way to sign it was to leave our nose prints. Can you guess which signature is which?

Try it out! Send us picture of your gorgeous masterpieces and let us know what you think in the comments below!

Love,
Sabrina and Dagny <3

Bucket List Item: Town Day

Dagny and Sabrina embark on another adventure...into town!

Our little town is super cute, it's got a little bookstore, grocery store, some restaurants, and our favorite: an Ice Cream Shop! We love Ice Cream. Seriously, we are addicted to Ice Cream. We will scream for Ice Cream, run for Ice Cream, do silly dances for Ice Cream. It's like what would you do for a Klondike bar but what would you do for an Ice Cream Cone. Do you get the picture? We really LOVE ICE CREAM! Any way Sabrina and I ventured into town to look at the books in the book store (mostly because I love books!) and then went for some ice cream! We both decided on soft serve in a cone--twist of course! The classic summer cone. Then we sat at this little table that was probably meant for small children. The table and stools were little toadstools with gnomes holding them up. We had to sit at such a cute and creepy table!

Our delicious ice cream cones...as they melt all over our hands!

After enjoying our favorite treat we ran to the grocery store for some water because we were so thirsty and so hot! We split the water on our way home...and definitely wished that we had bought another bottle!

Bucket List Item: Sister Day!

We finished something something on our bucket list! Surprise!

Sister Day was a success...well sort of. It wasn't for lack of planning (Sabrina did an awesome job!)--we just ran into some bad luck!

We started out early planning to do a beach day to start off. It was a great day until we were about 15 minutes from the beach...and it poured! Not wanting to turn back we headed to a local Dunkin Donuts to wait out the storm (hot cocoa for Sabrina and coffee for Dagny). We amused ourselves with our favorite pastime: watching Youtube videos! We watched some Jimmy Fallon Lip Sync Contests, which were absolutely fab! Finally, the rain let up and we headed to the lake--along with a host of ambulances. Apparently the lake was closed due to some kind of emergency with a broken dam! Guess we were just being safe!

So we headed to our next stop. A cute little town with tons of little shops and a precious park. Unfortunately it was still drizzling. But we made the best of it. We saw a hot dog tunnel, Dagny became obsessed with Baby lit books we saw in the book shop, we played with toys, we saw giant shoes and glittery horses, and looked at expensive clothing. Eventually we decided to picnic in the damp park by a fountain that looked more like a frog jail than a fountain. We read magazines, fed the birds, and people watched. And to top the day off we got some Ben & Jerry's (mmmmmm!) Chunky Monkey for Dagny and Cotton Candy for Sabrina--we may have an ice cream addiction.

All in all it was a pretty awesome day! Just a little damp!

Love to y'all <3 Sabrina & Dagny

Hi Y'all!

This is Dagny and Sabrina, two adorable sisters! We are trying a new experiment for our summer adventures. As we are 8 years apart we like to create new and exciting things to do! This summer is a pretty big one as Dagny will be moving away to start a career and her adult life :( So we created this blog as part of our summer bucket list and to see if we could actually make it as cool cats of the internet! So stick with us and we will hopefully keep you filled in as we start this summer. As one of our favorites says: "To infinity and Beyond!"
